Chaplin Creek Kids

The Franklin Grove Area Historical Society is proud to announce a program entitled "Chaplin Creek Kids". This program encourages children to learn more about historic preservation and how children lived in the 1800's.

"Graduates" of this program become a part of our junior docents and assist the historical society members in displaying our artifacts and conducting demonstrations during our special events. These junior docents, dressed in period clothing, work with adult docents leading tours through Chaplin Creek Village interpreting a prairie family’s routine of work, school and play. The Chaplin Creek Kids play games, attend school and do chores to aid in the interpretation.

During the summer of 2010, The Historical Society is planning to conduct day-long summer camp programs aimed at children from eight to twelve years of age, in support of our Chaplin Creek Kids program. Please check back as firm dates and applications for the summer camp program will be posted here in the spring of 2010.
